A small, handy size tea pot with a visibly mounted handle. The tea pot shows a large amount of ash deposit on handle and snout. The tea pot was located in an area with a high flame passage what can also been seen on the beautiful dark red color.
The cover is cut in waves on the border and has no handle. The body has sieve-like holes drilled within the snout that are acting like a coarse sieve and withhold the tea leaves very well. The tea pot is well suited to prepare Chinese and Japanese teas, where the whole tea pot filling is poured at once and the filling can be renewed several times (up to 7 times, depending on the tea leaf quality). Please do not forget to put the tea pot upright between two brewings, because the water persisting in the pot will become bitter otherwise. You can find further details here, where I describe the different tea pot types.
The tea pot reminds very strongly on Japanese Bizen and Shigaraki ceramic.
The handle on the right side of the snout, hence this is a pot most suitable for right-handers.
